Desert Paintings

I travelled to desert areas of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory over a period of years.

In early 2019 the Channel Country of Queensland flooded, which resulted in water running to the water courses and water holes around Birdsville and on to Lake Eyre. This was a remarkable sight. Animals and plants flourished. The colours even more vibrant and strong.

The trapezoid format evokes the wide-angle perspective of these landscapes. For me close foregrounds and immense horizons are about inner dimensions as well as measurable
hectares and kilometres.
